Boat handling & sail trim

Close-quarters manoeuvring and heavy weather sailing.

I can berth a yacht alongside under power in wind and tide

I can pick up a mooring or anchor under sail

I can reef and set sail plans for heavy weather

I have sailed at night

Seamanship & crew management

Anchoring, mooring alongside, briefing and leading a crew.

I can brief and lead a crew through a manoeuvre

I can plan and set an anchor watch

I am familiar with engine checks and basic fault finding

Safety & emergencies

MOB under sail and power, emergency steering, damage control.

I can run a MOB recovery under sail and under power

I know emergency steering, damage control and abandon-ship procedures

I hold a VHF/SRC certificate
